Following New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 2014 proclamation of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, the Inaugural Women’s Entrepreneurship Day event is set to commence at the United Nations November 19, 2015. Starting at 7:30am the day is scheduled to have a number of panels, speakers, an awards ceremony luncheon and much more. Make sure you leave time to get through security checkpoints upon entry; you’re not going to want to miss a second!
Here’s the top five reasons you have to make your way to the UN for the inaugural Women’s Entrepreneurship Day:
1.The lineup includes a slew of superstar speakers from all walks of life.
Whether you’re listening to Leslie Blodgett talk about her successful bareMinerals makeup company, Diane Brady (an award winning journalist) talk about her experiences as a media executive and a former senior editor at Bloomberg Businessweek, or Danielle Gelber delve into her experience as an Executive Vice President at Dick Wolf’s production company “Wolf Films” and executive producing NBC’s Chicago Fire, Chicage PD, and Chicago Med, you are sure to find something that sparks your interest. Though all completely different, they have one very important thing in common: they’re passionate about what they do.
2. Come to be inspired.
With so many powerful women set to attend with a variety of backgrounds, stories and areas of expertise, hearing about their work can inspire you to go out and do great things as well (in addition to the great things you’re already doing, of course). You can use this as fuel so one day you can join them amongst the ranks of not just successful women, but successful people.
3. At 10AM a celebrity panel is set to discuss How Celebrity Entrepreneurs Can Advance Social Good.
With names like Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit),
4. The Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Pioneer Awards
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Pioneer Award will be presented during lunch. This means you can cheer on and support the accomplishments of those who have excelled. Supporting other women can be a valuable tool as you can learn a lot from the people around you. If that’s not enough to convince you, lunch generally implies that there’s going to be food and since this event runs from 7:30AM-6:00PM something to nosh on is probably a good idea.
5. The event is incredibly organized.
That might sound trivial, but if you’ve ever been to a conference with a loose schedule and had to spend large amounts of time waiting around for something to happen you’ll completely understand. The event is still more than three months out and an agenda of the day’s events has already been posted online. This means you can plan out your day from your spot on your sofa so you’re ready for the day when it comes. If you’re like me, having a plan is incredibly important.
