WEDO was founded in 2013 by Wendy Diamond, an entrepreneur and humanitarian, with the aim of celebrating, supporting, and empowering women entrepreneurs worldwide
We’re here to support you on your journey and help you navigate the world of women’s entrepreneurship.
Join the Global Movement Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO), together with our WEDO Ambassadors in 144 countries, proudly celebrates Women’s Entrepreneurship Day each year on November 19th, an officially proclaimed day of recognition. Across the globe, we host powerful summits to uplift, honor, and empower women entrepreneurs while uniting communities in support of economic equality and innovation.
Wherever you are in the world, you can join us—your presence and participation not only celebrate this global movement but also support our impactful initiatives throughout the year, empowering women to start and scale businesses that change lives.
With so many days dedicated to causes, one might ask: why does the world need the #ChooseWOMEN movement and WEDO? Because women perform 66% of the world’s work, yet earn only 10% of the world’s income, despite influencing 85% of consumer purchases and controlling over $20 trillion in global spending. This imbalance must change—and entrepreneurship is the key to unlocking opportunity!
Our agenda spotlights the critical role women are playing in shaping the future through AI, blockchain, and Web3 technologies, while celebrating how these innovations are expanding economic freedom, dignity, and entrepreneurial opportunity for women around the world.
We also proudly present our prestigious Pioneer Awards, honoring the world’s most influential and visionary women entrepreneurs who are creating a powerful, positive impact on our world.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is every day! Celebrate, empower, and support women in business.
Since 2013, at a time when women entrepreneurs and women in business were largely overlooked by the media—and only a handful of governments and companies had dedicated women’s initiatives—our founder, Wendy Diamond, had a bold vision.
She believed that by creating the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) and establishing Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, we could ignite a global conversation and shine a well-deserved spotlight on women entrepreneurs.
Since then, WEDO has proudly organized Women’s Entrepreneurship Summits worldwide, celebrating extraordinary achievements and emphasizing the critical need to support women in business. When Women’s Entrepreneurship Day launched in 2014 at the United Nations, it marked a historic milestone. Through our ongoing collaborations with the United States State Department around the world, WEDO has helped elevate and amplify the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs on a global scale.
Wherever you are in the world, we invite you to #JoinWEDO —to learn, celebrate, and take part in building a more inclusive and empowered future for women everywhere!
